Testimonials

This project is the first new tunnel of this size in Australasia to use LED luminaires and the result gives us confidence for the use of this technology in the future. The energy savings that have resulted using LED over other light sources is significant. Control features within the LED luminaires, which provide an even duty cycle extend luminaire life and minimize maintenance costs. The visual comfort experienced when driving through the tunnel, together with the uniformity of the carriageway and wall lighting, is excellent and the glare, well-controlled. Members of the public have also responded well to the tunnel and its lighting features.
In tunnel construction, particularly when it is not a TBM tunnel, the civil design parameters
always change, i.e. the tunnel is never as perfect as indicated on a drawing. This means that to a degree, the MEP design is always fluid and this impacts the Tunnel Lighting Design – this coordination exercise always means that the Tunnel Lighting Design is the last part of the MEP Design to be completed, coordinated, and integrated into the overall MEP Design – with all of the changes made on the WestConnex M4 East Tunnels, Jin still managed to get the Tunnel Lighting Design over the line. His advice & guidance were very much appreciated.
